Following my previous blogs on Halloween and la veille de la Toussaint, I would like to introduce more words and a song. Before watching the song learn the vocabulary:
En classe, nous avons écouté une chanson qui s'appelle Citoyens du monde. C'est une chanson assez difficile. Pour commencer, nous avons écouté puis avons essayé d'arranger les phrases dans l'ordre où nous les avons entendues.
Ecoutez la chanson. Classez les cartes dans le bon ordre. Regardez la traduction et comparez avec le français. Ensuite, essayez d'utiliser le vocabulaire et des phrases pour écrire votre propre poëme.
I enjoy using songs in my classroom and as someone mentioned Stromae "Alors on danse" and that it could be linked with a phoneme lesson, I thought that Year 10 would enjoy it. Here is how the lesson went:
I played the song as they entered the classroom. Gave them the lyrics cut out and they had to put them in the right order. Then we looked at the lyrics and did some sound discrimination- Find as many words as you can with the sound- a / eu/ ou/ ille etc. They worked quite well and were able to recognise the sounds studied in the previous lesson.
They were keen to work out the meaning of the words in the song. I asked them to look for 5 words (their own choice) in the dictionary- When finished, they had to share their findings with other students so that they learnt from each other. We then explained the song in English and everyone left the room singing!!!
Next time, we will revise the present tense, we will try to recognise all the verbs in the present tense in the song and work out how to recognise irregular verbs when using the dictionary.

One of our students' favorite occupation is buying clothes.
When we got to France on a school trip, students spend money and bring back a couple of t-shirts or other items of clothing.

What do you pack when you go on holidays? Listen and watch Dorothée and see if you can identify all the clothes (and other items) that she is packing.

Dans sa chanson "Comme un arbre dans la ville", Maxime Le Forestier compare sa vie à celle d'un arbre emprisonné en ville. Etudie la chanson et dis comment cette chanson peut s'appliquer au thème de l'environnement et de la société. Donne le vocabulaire qui justifie cela.
