Le tabac et le tabagisme

Mon JT quotidien is a program aimed at young children in France.  It is a good source of resources for students studying French as it gives them an insight into world news in a simplified format.

I cam across this report on "Tabagisme" which I found rather chocking and I want to share it with you.  Watch the item, study the pictures to help you and answer the questions.  Remember what the news item is about to help you answer the questions.  You can also access the script and follow it this way.  Why not try to read it at the same time as the narrator or record yourself saying it.  Compare the results with a friend and see how well you have performed

L'environnement

In order to deal with the problem of the environment, we have watched different clips.

1. Using Mon J.T. quotidien, make a list of all the animals listed in clip.
2. Watch a second time and mention what is affecting some of these animals.
3. What is the most endangered animal and how many are left in the wild?

Now watch the second clip and answer the following questions

1. Comment dit-on?
   • to make the area more attractive
   • I avoid to throw paper on the floor
   • I get into the habit of
   • I take part by
   • I recycle

2.   Où est-ce que le recyclage est une nécessité?

Watch the third clip and make a list of what the collge does to recycle.  Copy any vocabulary which will be useful for your exam-  Vocabulaire

Prendre l'autobus, plutôt, le mégot, circuler, il faudrait etc..

Jean Ferrat

It is very sad to hear that Jean Ferrat has died yesterday.  He was part of my youth  He has always been an advocate for French songs and his discography is very impressive. (liste des chansons de Jean Ferrat)

He has put music to so many great poems especially poetry from Louis Arragon. 

My favorite song is Nuit et Brouillard which was written in memory of the victims of concentration camps and of his dad who died in Auschwitz.  It always brings tears to my eyes.

He is a great loss to French music.

Nos enfants nous accuseront

This new documentary ( in French cinemas at the moment) is certainly worth looking at.  It raises lots of issues on the dangers faced by everyone of us -  Just have look at the trailer (bande-annonce)-  Look at the figures (les chiffres)- 70% of cancers would be caused by what we are doing to our environment. 

Travail

1. Regardez la bande annonce

• Quelles sont vos premières réactions?
• Pensez vous que ce problème s'applique aussi à votre pays?
• Lisez les statistiques (synopsis) -  faites correspondre les chiffres avec un exemple:

                     100 000 - c'est le nombre d'enfants qui meurent de maladies causées par l'environnement
                     1,1% -
etc-----


     2.  Que pensez-vous de la décision prise par le maire du petit village des Cévennes?  Pouvez-vous faire des comparaisons avec des décisions prises dans votre pays?


     3.  Ecrivez un article pour le journal de votre ville dans lequel vous discuterez des problèmes de l'environnement dans votre ville.  Mettez-y vos propres recommendations.
