In GCSE and A level listening tasks, you need to be able to identify numbers. It is always difficult to understand numbers in full.
First of all, how do you identify numbers in French?
When learning or revising numbers, look for how you could group the numbers.
1 to 10 are easy to remember. Then try to see similarities
un- onze
deux- douze
trois- treize- trente
quatre- quatorze- quarante
cinq- quinze- cinquante
six- seize- soixante
17-18-19 / 70-80- 90 are composite numbers
dix-sept (10-7), soixante-dix-sept (60-10-7)
dix-huit (10-8), quatre-vingt (4-20)
dix-neuf (10-9), quatre-vingt-dix (4-20-10)
To remember 100 and 1000 think of words which include these numbers
Cent - Mille
When listening to a large number, try to break the number in digits
1000 - 100 - 10- 0 = 1 110
5000- 300- 40- 7= 5 347
